Webillian.id-Business trips often take long hours on a trip to the city where your work will take place. For most entrepreneurs, lost time in productivity can be a pain if you can’t get work done on a flight. How many times have you said to yourself or a coworker, “It’s okay, I’ll do it on the plane.” This is a noble intention, but conditions in the aircraft cabin, especially in transport, can make fulfilling this obligation difficult.
Like anything else, if you’re going to make up for time while you’re in the air, you’ll need to set up an agenda that you can complete at this spot, and hopefully you’ll be okay before you check in. Let’s face it, domestic aircraft cabins are not designed for business productivity. You may have a myriad of distractions from a crying baby to a talkative neighbor. The airline staff has enough agendas to interrupt your time, and then there are the turmoil and cramped seats that dictate that you do whatever you’re about to do in a place with very little space.
The Plane Is Your Office
Expecting you to have a seat next to you to spread your work on or for the perfect journey of peace and quiet is frustrating and frustrating. So, to prepare for reaching a certain level of productivity on an airplane, be aware of these limitations and design your business so that you can spend that time within those limits, regardless of those limitations.
Basic necessities used to achieve a certain level of focus while flying are a good set of earplugs or earphones and an iPod. You can use the device to direct music to your brain, which helps you focus and think. Now, earbuds that are enough to block out the kind of interference you encounter on a plane should be sophisticated enough. So don’t take shortcuts in this buying process. It will pay you over and over as you use it to block out surface noises in the aircraft cabin.
The best way to get off a plane with a sense of accomplishment is to define your goals before you board the plane and make them one that you can achieve. You can’t expect to be able to open your laptop and work quietly in a coach. It is very likely that you will be able to do this but you may find that disturbances, active population around you, or other factors may make this work very difficult. So sure, set up a project to work on using your laptop but don’t be disappointed if it turns out to be too difficult to try. Most importantly, avoid setting deadlines you need to meet by using time during your trip to make up for lost time on your deadlines. It will only frustrate the flights and will make business travelers angry and tired.
The best form of work you can give yourself is analysis or reading. If you have one or multiple documents to review, plane seat limits fit the job well. Business reading is easily the best form of work that can be done on the fly. Using your headphones to block out the world, you can lie down with a book, business magazine, or report and take your time studying or reading long sets of material during a long flight. On a two to three hour trip, you can read an entire chapter of the business book and walk off the trip with a ton of food to think about to bring to your business meeting at your destination.
It is possible to make up for time in the air by completing some serious work. But the key to success in this goal is to be realistic about what can be done in the plane seat and adjust your expectations and goals accordingly. If you do, you will be happy with the way you used your time and the trip will be faster too.
